Good day Brandwag Primary Family
1. Third term
I would like to wish everyone all the best for the third term during very difficult times in our country. Currently we have 3 staff members who are positive. Covid is getting very close to us all. May God’s grace keep you all safe and healthy.
2. President’s announcement
Due to President Ramaposa’s announcement of changing to level 3 restrictions, we all must still follow all safety protocols, please. According to Ms Motshekga, the Minister of Education, there is a possibility for all Foundation Phase (Gr 1 – 3) learners and grade 7s to return in full from 2 August 2021. Unfortunately we are not able to keep social distance at our school as prescribed. We will keep you informed on how we will handle the situation.
3. Late coming
School gates will close at 07:30 in the morning as from today. Parents were informed in several previous newsletters that NO late coming will be allowed, with no exceptions. We all have different circumstances and therefore you should allow time for unexpected events, while traveling to school. Should you be late, your child will not be attending school on that specific day. This is not a school rule, but law, announced by the minister because of strict safety protocol. Learners must also be picked up on time in the afternoons, as many of them do not keep social distancing or wear their masks outside the school grounds.
4. Remaining Assessments
Remaining assessments that were not completed due to early closing of schools, will be completed during this week. (Assessment table already distributed.)
5. Learner’s work ethic
We find that learner’s work ethic is not up to standard with the many disruptions. We urge parents to ensure that homework and assignments are done daily. Learners not completing their work on time puts everyone under strain, as
teachers are under immense pressure to finish the curriculum on time.
6. Extra classes
Extra classes will be communicated with learners, after all reports have been handed out.
Your understanding in this regard on short notice is appreciated.
