We offer the following activities as part of our cultural program
Eisteddfod
From poetry readings to showing off musical skills, the show must go on. Brandwag enters more than 50 learners every year to take part in the eisteddfod festival. We are proud to host this event every second year with Mrs Schaaf and Mr Taylor taking control.
B-wag Beat (Dance group)
Brandwag Primary started a rhythm and dance group in 2015. We started with only 20 dancers. It was a unanimous decision to call the group B-Wag Beat. The group grew each year with a few learners. We competed at the Böhmer School Eisteddfod festival and received an A+ and an A++. Because of our large numbers we divided the group into two groups in 2018: Seniors and Juniors. During this year we were the best group to perform at the Sand du Plessis Revue festival. We again combined the group in 2019 and grew to the number of 60. We are sure this group will keep growing and going from strength to strength! Bwag Beat is still going strong in 2024 under the leadership of Ms. A van der Merwe and Mrs. M. du Plessis.
UCSA
The United Christians Schools’ Association (UCSA) is a group where Christians can come together and praise the Lord God. We believe in God the Father, his son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. During these meetings we focus on the Trinity and teach the learners new principles and disciplines of the faith in fun and creative ways. This is also a safe place for learners to pray for each other, sing gospel songs together and share stories about their lives. This group meets every Friday after school and all Christian learners are welcome.
Debate
Reasoning is a special skill and the debate team is the place to acquire it. Get confident in public speaking and have your say with the debate team.
Chess
The game for the quick witted that develops strategy and a sense of action and consequence. Lead by Mrs. M. Grobbelaar, many learners sign up to be part of the junior and senior teams each year.
